Americus, GA - Cape Fear men's basketball rebounded from a loss yesterday to defeat South Georgia Tech, 98-77, in the second game of the South Georgia Tech Classic.
Sophomore forward Zaqwaun Matthews led the team with 24 points and seven rebounds, while freshman forward Eric Fox finished with 23 points, going 7-for-7 from the 3-point line. Sophomore guard Jerick Haynes added 15 points, and freshman guard Donte Tatum had 11 points and seven assists.
"I thought today was a good overall effort from our guys," said assistant coach Mark Lane. "The energy from every single player was huge. We maintained the pace that we needed."
The Sea Devils went 1-1 on the weekend, losing to Gordon State yesterday. Overall, coach Lane likes the way his team performed.
"We got better this weekend and took a step in the right direction. I am very proud of my team on how they responded."
Cape Fear improves to 3-3 on the season. They travel to Tennessee to play Walters State Community College on Tuesday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m.
