Sea Devils Back to Winning Ways
Cape Fear returned to action on January 3 with an emphatic 109–88 win over Thomas Ridge Prep, closing the game with a dominant second-half performance inside the Schwartz Center.
The Sea Devils jumped out quickly and set the tone early, but Thomas Ridge answered with a strong offensive stretch of its own and carried a 50–42 lead into halftime. Cape Fear stayed composed despite the deficit and came out of the locker room with renewed energy and focus.
That focus showed immediately in the second half, as Cape Fear flipped the momentum and outscored Thomas Ridge 67–38 over the final 20 minutes. The Sea Devils pushed the pace, tightened up defensively, and gradually built separation before pulling away down the stretch.
JJ Moore led the way with a game-high 30 points while also filling up the stat sheet with six assists and three steals. Jacob Daniels added 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers, and Malachi Simpson posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jadyn Cooper provided a strong spark off the bench with 15 points and energetic play on both ends, while Tedrick Wactor's effort and activity helped ignite the second-half surge.
Coach Mark Lane was pleased with the response after the long break, noting that the entire group contributed and found its rhythm as the game wore on. He emphasized the importance of carrying that momentum forward as the Sea Devils prepare to open Region 10 play.
Cape Fear will turn its attention to conference action on Wednesday when it hosts Wake Tech to open Region 10 competition.
