Raleigh, NC - Cape Fear Community College men's soccer earned its fourth straight shutout on Thursday afternoon, playing Wake Technical Community College to a 0–0 draw at WRAL Soccer Park.
Goalkeeper Aydan Scharf delivered a standout performance, recording 11 saves to secure his second clean sheet of the season. The Sea Devils (1-0-3, 0-0-1) continued their defensive dominance, holding the Eagles scoreless despite being outshot 11–2.
Cape Fear controlled much of the first half and nearly found the breakthrough, but Wake Tech's back line held firm. The Eagles responded after halftime with wave after wave of pressure, forcing Scharf into several key stops, including multiple point-blank saves.
Head Coach Giovanni Vlahos praised the team's effort but noted areas for growth:
"We played very well in the first half and should have had a goal or two, but Wake Tech held strong. I think we were outplayed in the second half, but it was definitely a good learning experience for the young players to see that it's a match of two halves. It's all about the process and learning this early in the season."
The Sea Devils return home next week looking to build on their unbeaten start and extend their defensive streak.
