Sea Devils Cruise to Balanced 76–60 Win Over Wake Tech
Cape Fear Community College put together a balanced and disciplined effort Monday night, cruising to a 76–60 win over Wake Technical Community College at home.
The Sea Devils set the tone early, sharing the ball and making smart decisions on both ends of the court. Yamorie Hardison helped create separation in the opening minutes with aggressive play and strong floor movement, while Kelize Velez-Galan nearly posted a triple-double, finishing with 23 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. "She was a few shy of a triple-double, but her impact on both ends was huge," head coach Felecity Havens said.
Cape Fear's execution never wavered, as the team moved the ball effectively, got everyone involved, and stayed disciplined in its defensive sets. Monica Surratt added another 23 points, contributing to a balanced attack that saw five Sea Devils score in double figures.
"We continue to get better in our sets and buy into our defensive principles," Coach Havens said. "That focus and commitment to doing what we do at a high level is what will separate us down the stretch."
The win moves the Sea Devils to 9–3 overall and 7-3 in Region 10 play. Cape Fear will look to continue its momentum when they host Guilford Tech in the Schwartz Center, Saturday, January 17th, at 1:00 pm.
