Lady Sea Devils Finish Regular Season with Three Wins

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College Lady Sea Devils Soccer Team finished out the 2011 regular season this past weekend with three wins at home. The Lady Sea Devils defeated Wake Tech on Friday, 6-0. Jaylyn High had 2 goals and 2 assists to lead all scorers. Amber Eberhard started the scoring in the 5th minute off an assist from High. Kelly Taylor, Cierra Risk and Kerinn Hall, also added goals. Goalkeepers Kailey Johnson and Samantha Walker shared time in net and shared the shutout.

Saturday, CFCC defeated Tri County Tech, 11-0. Amanda Fenton opened the scoring frenzy for the Sea Devils in the 2nd minute off an assist from Amber Eberhard. Fenton found the back of the net only 2 minutes later with help from Jaylyn Hign. Kara May Rice added 2 goals and 2 assists herself to help in the cause. Cierra Risk added 2 goals while Jaylyn High, Stephanie Vanvekoven, Kelly Sigmon, Colleen Pisano, and Rebecca Dupre, each had a goal in the contest.

The Lady Sea Devils finished out the regular season on Sunday, with a 5-0 win over USC Salkehatchie. Jaylyn High scored the first goal in the 25th minute off an assist from Brittany Beaty. Amanda Fenton scored on a free kick shortly after half-time to put CFCC up 2-0. Brittany Beaty scored only minutes later off an assist from Amber Eberhard. Stephanie Vanvekoven and Kelly Sigmon, each added a goal to finish the scoring totals. Kailey Johnson and Kerinn Hall shared time in goal and the 14th shutout of the season for the Sea Devils.

CFCC finished the regular season with a 17-1-0 overall record and a 13-1-0 Region 10 record. The team is currently ranked #13 in the NJCAA and #17 in the NSCAA polls. As regular season champions and the #1 seed for this year's Region10 Tournament, the Lady Sea Devils will host the #8 seed, Stanly CC on Wednesday, October 26th at 4pm at the North Campus Soccer Field.
