Sea Devils Shutout Bland 4-0
Cape Fear Community College women's soccer closed out its regular season with a convincing 4–0 victory over Richard Bland College, showcasing balance and composure on both ends of the field.
The first half was competitive, with Richard Bland's counterattacks limiting Cape Fear's clean shooting opportunities. The Sea Devils finally broke through in the 34th minute when sophomore captain Kenliana Dixon headed in a corner delivered by freshman Laina Elliott. Just before halftime, freshman Ava Walker converted a well-placed pass from Ava Searcy, giving Cape Fear a 2–0 lead. The team finished the half strong, creating chances while holding Richard Bland off the scoreboard.
In the second half, Cape Fear maintained control, sticking to their game plan and gradually increasing offensive pressure. Sophomore captain Kayla Donley scored in the 70th minute off a pass from Carrie Street, and in the 84th minute, Gabriela Rapalo found the net from a precise pass by Searcy to complete the 4–0 victory.
Cape Fear outshot Richard Bland 16–3 and generated eight corner kicks, while goalkeeper Jaime Maguire recorded five saves to preserve the clean sheet. The Sea Devil's defense remained organized throughout, limiting any scoring opportunities and maintaining control over the match.
Head coach Chris Ponton reflected, "That's a great way to end the season and send our sophomore class off on their special day. I'm very proud of our defense for another clean sheet. Now we wait to see the results between Wake Tech and Richard Bland and prep for next Saturday."
With the win, Cape Fear finishes the regular season 4–0 in Region 10 play, heading into postseason play with momentum and confidence.
