Sea Devils Sweep USC Lancaster
LANCASTER, S.C. – Cape Fear Community College volleyball continued its hot start to the season with a commanding road win, sweeping USC Lancaster in straight sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon.
The Sea Devils weathered a slow start in the opening set before settling in and taking control. In the second frame, Cape Fear's serve pressure and defense stifled Lancaster, holding them to a -.034 hitting percentage. The Lancers made a late push in the third, but the Sea Devils closed the door to complete the sweep.
Emma Anderson paced the attack with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Rose Eklund added 8 kills and 7 digs. From the service line, Eklund and Liberty Ipsen each fired in three aces to keep Lancaster on its heels.
Defensively, Cape Fear limited USC Lancaster to a .118 hitting percentage overall, forcing 20 errors on 110 attempts.
Head coach Colby Rosser praised the group's effort, particularly earning a result against a quality opponent. "I am always happy to get a win on the road, especially against a solid team. I love the way this team is playing to start the season and can't wait to see where we grow from here."
Cape Fear improves to 4-1 on the young season and will look to carry its momentum into the next stretch of non-conference play before beginning Region 10 competition.
